Vodafone and China Mobile

Two of the largest mobile operators in the world, Vodafone and China Mobile, signed a “strategic co-operation framework agreement” at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Under the deal, the two companies will continue their existing co-operation in a number of areas, including exchange of corporate management, technical and operational expertise, enhanced roaming, multinational customers, green technology, network roadmap management, joint innovation and R&D. In addition, they will work together on promotion of converged LTE technology and LTE terminal development to improve competitiveness and influence on international organizations, value chain and industry by partnership in management, technology and operation.

In other words, all we got was the usual corporate BS. However, since we’re talking about two such big players of the mobile industry, we just needed to let you know something’s going on. Hopefully, we’ll see some tangible results of this co-operation in the near future.

And for the record, the ongoing relationship between the two operators is based on a strategic alliance signed by China Mobile and Vodafone back in 2000.
