The HTC Thunderbolt is one nice piece of hardware that we really liked when we got some hands on time with it at CES, and it looks like Verizon’s first 4G LTE handset has just saw its first TV ad leaking out on the web.
Following in the footsteps of Verizon’s previous 4G LTE commercials, the Thunderbolt ad you see here keeps it short and simple. “The first phone strong enough to run on the fastest, most advanced 4G network in America.” That basically sums up the whole ad, and we can’t say we disagree. The Thunderbolt is going to be one of the most sought after Android phones this year, and it will run on Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The Thunderbolt is missing one thing that its main competitors have, however, and that’s a dual-core processor under the hood. Those who are looking for the most cutting edge handset may want to look elsewhere, but the Thunderbolt is still a very fast handset on its own.
Speaking of things that are missing, the ad still gives no hint as to when we’ll be able to have our very own Thunderbolt. There have been a few rumors about the availability, and the most believable would have to be the 24th of this month, which is just a few short days away. It would certainly make sense that we’re seeing this ad now if the launch of the handset turns out to be three days away.
While it’s believable that the Thunderbolt will hit on the 24th, we can’t help but think that there would be a bit more hype for the carrier’s first LTE handset. To be fair, this could be the calm before the storm, and be the beginning of a long string of ads, much like we’ve seen with the Droid lineup.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing this handset drop soon, as there’s another phone looming over the horizon that may not run on Verizon’s network, but makes the Thunderbolt look like the Droid Eris in terms of specs and features (I kid, sort of).
So, which will you choose? Thunderbolt or Atrix? In other words, AT&T or Verizon? Sound off below!
