If you’re on a market looking to grab an Android tablet device, you may want to go for the WiFi only option. Personally I like the idea, though I don’t dig losing the GPS navigation along the way. Guess I’ll still hate to rely on a smartphone for those services.
Anyway, you’ve probably seen HTC Flyer, which is the Taiwanese company’s first such Android product. Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, it comes with a single-core 1.5GHz processor, 7-inch display, stylus that works with capacitive touchscreen and other “standard for tablet” goodies like tons of memory, Bluetooth, camera and so on. Aside from the 3G version, HTC will also offer the WiFi only Flyer, which we’ve just spotted at German electronics retailer CyberPort with pre-order price of 499 EUR (about $688).
That’s way lass than Amazon’s price of 669 EUR for the 3G-enabled Flyer, prompting me to question whether the 3G+GPS chip can actually cost 170 EUR. I doubt it can/does, but that’s something users don’t care about like at all. All they want to know is the final price and whether it’s a good deal or not. 500 EUR for WiFi only version is a good deal, or at least me thinks so.
And before I let you go, don’t forget to check out our brief hands-on experience with the Flyer, if you still haven’t done so. 😉
