Some screenshots of the next version of Facebook for BlackBerry have snuck out, revealing a handful of new features. The most prominent among them is Chat, something users have been missing for ages, resulting in a slew of third-party apps filling the gap. Facebook 2.0 for BlackBerry also tidies up the user interface, enables you to view Pages and more friend info, as well as drills deeper into the core BlackBerry applications (like address book and messages).
As is, Facebook for BlackBerry lets you check in to Places, search for friends on the massive social network, and receive notifications, plus the usual stuff, like check your feed for news from friends, leave wall posts, share pictures taken with your phone’s camera, and send private messages back and forth through a dedicated inbox.
Facebook 2.0 for BlackBerry is expected to drop in early beta starting in March, with a public release in May. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for the new release, but in the meantime, if you don’t have the app already, it’s hanging out in App World.
