Kaspersky Lab announced that it is now offering protection for BlackBerry and Android smartphone owners, in addition to Windows Mobile and Symbian devices. Available for purchase across North America, Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 now offers anti-theft and privacy features for four popular mobile platforms – Symbian, Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and Android.
Aside from the standard anti-virus and anti-spam stuff that’s usually found in such apps, Kaspersky’s solution also comes with anti-theft technology, allowing owners to track their device and remotely secure their data, including pictures, personal contacts and documents. Features include SMS Find which allows users to view the smartphone’s real-time GPS location displayed on Google Maps, remote block and delete of data, and SIM Watch that alerts device owners when their SIM card is being replaced.
In addition, Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 also supports mobile content filtering, enhanced parental controls and privacy protection features, which allow users to keep certain contacts and all communication with those select contacts hidden from prying eyes. The last mentioned sounds like a perfect tool for cheating on your spouse, though that’s not the original intent of the feature.
The new version of Kaspersky Mobile Security 9 costs $29.95 per year and you can grab it from your phone’s app store.
