File this under rumors, cause it doesn’t come from the official channels. Rather the information that Samsung will release the Gingerbread update for its wildly popular Galaxy S smartphone in Germany comes from a “source close to Samsung Germany.”
I really can’t tell what’s the difference between German version of the device and what is sold elsewhere and can only presume that the Korean company will roll-out the update in Germany first, with other countries to follow shortly. You can’t use such an important market as a testbed for the firmware updates, that’s for sure.
As you probably know, Android 2.3 Gingerbread brings various user interface improvements, faster and more intuitive text input, better text selection and copy/paste, enhanced power management capabilities, support for SIP-based VoIP calls, download management and more.
Again, we’ll keep our eyes wide open and keep informing you on the latest Gingerbread updates…
