HootSuite had launched their Twitter and Facebook app for BlackBerry a few months ago, and recently updated it to include access to the LinkedIn professional social network. The social networks HootSuite was already supporting also got some added functions; Facebook got the ability to add pages, do searches, and view events, while Twitter now includes adding favourites, creating and editing lists, and reply-all to incoming tweets. Foursquare is still there, but now you can leave comments on friends’ check-ins.
As usual, you can check metrics, schedule posts to social networks, and plug into HootSuite’s excellent web-based social networking client. The service is really geared towards equipping social media professionals, and as the pre-eminent enterprise smartphone, BlackBerry is a good fit for HootSuite, as is LinkedIn.
Since the latest update to the official Twitter client, I have even less reason to muck around with third-party clients, especially considering the tight integration RIM has between their social networking clients and the native address book, but for professionals who are heavily involved with a full-blown desktop client, I could see the necessity for some synchronization with mobile. If you count yourself in that camp, you can download HootSuite for BlackBerry for free here.
