Rogers is locked in to bring the BlackBerry PlayBook to Canada, Telus has hinted heavily that they’ll be offering it, and now Bell, the last of the big three, has confirmed they’ll be selling RIM’s first tablet by way of an ad at The Source. Bell actually owns the retail outlet, so there’s not much worry about this ad referring to the Rogers or Telus version.
The BlackBerry PlayBook will come out swinging against some pretty impressive competition in both Android and iOS camps; it’s got a dual-core 1 GHz processor, a 7-inch 1024 x 600 display, Wi-Fi, GPS, and 3G by way of Bluetooth tethering, twin cameras (3 and 5 megapixels), and a new operating system that can multitask like nobody’s business. Take a look at our hands-on for the full tour.
RIM has also announced LTE and HSPA+ versions of the PlayBook are on the way, and all of the major Canadian carriers are in a position to pick it up. Wind Mobile is also expected to pick up an AWS-compatible version of the PlayBook, but nothing firm on that front just yet.
