It looks like a Nexus S 4G for Sprint is all but confirmed at this point. There was a rumor earlier that the device would be announced, along with a handful of other devices, at CTIA 2011 in Orlando, FL. Now we’re seeing that a website dedicated to the Android handset is being readied by the carrier. Presumably, the device will be similar to the current Nexus S, except the Sprint model will be compatible with the carrier’s 4G or WiMax network.
Last year, Sprint was slated to carry the Nexus One – Google’s first Android 2.1 handset. However, with the barrage of even more capable handsets, the CDMA variant of the smartphone never arrived. Of course, no one really cared with the HTC EVO 4G and Epic 4G in tow. This time around, however, I would imagine that die-hard Android fans would be jumping all over this Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone.
We can expect to see the device in the next month or two since we’re certain it will be announced at CTIA, and the web page for the Nexus S 4G — now.sprint.com/nexus — is being prepped and ready, too.
