LG’s upcoming LTE-toting Android phone for Verizon, the Revolution, has just made its way to the FCC. The powerful handset is up to snuff to that of the HTC Thunderbolt, and maybe we’ll even see this device released before the supposed “first 4G LTE phone” for Big Red.
LG has been on a roll lately with their Android offerings, and we’re happy to see the handset-maker providing some formidable competition to the likes of Motorola, Samsung, and HTC. The Eve and Ally weren’t anything special, and stayed in the mid-range spectrum, if that. Now with the Optimus 2X, 3D, Black, and now the Revolution, LG is on the right track to steal a good chunk of market share from opponents.
Two years ago, I wouldn’t have thought twice about owning an LG phone, but now I’m slowly beginning to want one. Out of all the competition out there, LG’s offerings are appealing to me more than any of the competition. The only handset out there that I’d love to get my hands on more than the Revolution is the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, and even then I’d want it to be sporting something more than a single core CPU.
While I’m trying as hard as I can to wait until the second half of the year to purchase a new handset, if I choose to stay with T-Mobile, I may find a G2x in my pocket and a G-Slate in my backpack. But the Revolution is quite a looker, and the blazing fast LTE network may eclipse my “need” for a dual-core smartphone.
The Revolution is a bit chunky, is running Android 2.2, and doesn’t have the sexiest of designs, but the handset feels solid in the hand, and coupling that with Verizon’s LTE network can’t be a bad thing.
LG, whatever caused this major shift into making compelling and great Android devices, keep it up!
