A tsunami last week devastated parts of coastal Japan and the country is struggling to recover following this natural disaster. To help U.S. customers with loved ones in Japan, AT&T Wireless is discounting its wireless service for customers wanting to contact friends and family in Japan.

Starting March 11 and extending until March 31st, AT&T customers will not be charged for International long distance usage from the United States and Puerto Rico to Japan. Text messages sent to Japan and originating from a U.S. wireless number will also be free.

While this relief program won’t solve the multiple problems facing Japanese residents, it will help AT&T customers stay in touch with friends and family during this difficult time. Full details on the program for AT&T wireless customers are available in the press release on the second page.
