Thanks to Samsung Romania’s social networking activities we know that three of the company’s Android smartphones will soon get firmware updates.
Probably the most interesting for our dear readers is update for the Samsung Galaxy S. The Korean company used its local Facebook account to announce the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will be released by the end of this month — that’s if we can trust machine-translated text and I think we can.
Using the same technique, Samsung also said the I5500 and I5800 will be blessed with Froyo updates. The former should get its Android 2.2 fix at some point this week, whereas the latter has the update date vaguely set at “by the end of this month.”
This is good news even without precise dates. What makes it even better is that Samsung hasn’t forgotten its older devices like the I5500 and I5800. Hopefully, they’ll continue with this practice.
Finally, I assume Romania won’t be the first market where Samsung will roll-out these updates and that soon enough we’ll hear more from them. Stay tuned…
