Nokia and Rovio partner up to show off huge Angry Birds demo in Texas

Just when I thought I’d grown completely sick of Angry Birds and hearing and seeing the game almost everywhere I turn, Nokia and Rovio put something together that made me think, “OK. I guess that was kinda neat.”

Straight from Nokia’s YouTube page:

Nokia and Rovio have combined forces to bring you this world exclusive Angry Birds 3D spectacular. Live from the Belmont in Austin, Texas, we projected onto a massive 150ft building using 3D projection mapping, so make sure you don’t miss the birds we all love on a huge scale. The mighty eagle has landed!

An Angry Birds projection on a 200-foot wall? OK, I’m listening. Or watching, I should say, and it is quite a spectacle. The projection is pretty cool, and you see what the birds are typically doing — smashing up pigs.

The animation simulates windows being destroyed as the birds plop themselves down into a slingshot and up towards the evil swine.

It looks like the lucky folks who were in Austin, TX, where the projection took place, were enjoying themselves. On top of that, I’m sure most of them for all the SXSW festivities, too.
