The developer of inbox management app, Xobni, announced that they would be launching a closed alpha for Android and iPhone apps to follow up on their established BlackBerry product. The app should be graduating to beta within the next 90 days, with a full version available sometime in Q2. On the desktop side, they’re launching a Gmail app much like their Outlook product.
Xobni takes over your usual e-mail experience by putting your contacts first, rather than the messages themselves. Contacts sync over the cloud across desktop and mobile clients, while individual contacts are populated with rich contextual information, like how often they e-mail you (and when), as well as links to various social networks.
I can only imagine that Xobni felt a little out in the cold when RIM acquired Gist, which does roughly the same thing and will presumably be built in to the native BlackBerry experience in time. By branching out to other platforms, Xobni’s making sure all of their eggs aren’t in one basket.
There are both free and premium versions available, depending on what you’re looking for. You can see the Xobni feature comparison chart over here. You can head on over here to sign up for the iPhone alpha, here for the Android alpha, or get the live BlackBerry version here in App World.
