Swedish price comparison site for car shopping Bilpriser.se launched an awesome iPhone application, allowing users to snap a picture of car’s license plate to get specs and compare prices for that vehicle.
This magic is done by querying the government registration database to locate the car’s make and model. Once that step is cleared, Bilpriser.se checks against its own database to return information to the users.
There are more than 9,000 models with over 80,000 different versions included, meaning you’ll be able to identify, and get the specs and price for just about any vehicle.
As far as I know this is the first mobile app that identifies a vehicle, but now that we (and other sites) have mentioned it, I’m sure other online car classifieds will want to offer similar capability as well.
