Motorola and Polycom announced collaborative development around delivering Polycom enterprise-class HD personal telepresence on Xoom tablets during the second half of 2011. The standards-based Polycom telepresence video application, which is already available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab, promises to deliver “improved enterprise collaboration and productivity” by enabling users to connect via one-to-one or group video conferences.

At the heart of the solution is Polycom’s UC Intelligent Core infrastructure platform, which allows enterprise to extend visual communications to mobile users without additional network configuration by connecting with existing telepresence and video conferencing systems.

Commenting on the news, Motorola Mobility’s corporate VP and CIO Walter F. Oswald said: “Polycom telepresence provides tremendous value to our business in terms of improved collaboration and productivity between our locations. The ability to extend telepresence to mobile workers via Motorola tablets will further enhance collaboration with employees in the field and drive greater value and return on investment for our video investments overall.”
