T-Mobile is offering up a generous deal today, giving you the chance to nab the MyTouch 4G for free! While better things are coming our way, we’d have a hard time saying anything bad about the handset.
Simply put, the myTouch 4G is one hell of a device, and even though upcoming devices make the handset look a bit dated, it’s one that will age gracefully, and will remain a good option for many. Given that the G2 and the MyTouch have been priced at $250 on a new two-year contract for a while now, its definitely a good thing to see the myTouch 4G drop to free, and the G2 going back to it’s $199 price point.
Unlike the Motorola DEFY deal T-Mobile offered last week, there’s no date as to when this deal will end, but it likely will not last long. If you’ve been looking at the MyTouch 4G for a while, waiting for the right moment to pull that trigger, that moment is now. The handset is solid, well made, packs in some great features, all while retaining a sleek and sexy overall look. That’s HTC’s doing, of course, and we wouldn’t expect anything less from them with its Android devices.
There’s a catch to this deal, however. Those of you looking to grab the phone with an available upgrade will still have to pay $199 after the mail-in rebate, so only new lines can take advantage of the deal. If you’ve got an upgrade on your hands, and have to pay up anyway, we’d suggest waiting a week for the T-Mobile G2x when that arrives on the 15th online. If you’re the patient type, then you could wait a bit longer for the handset that will be taking the myTouch 4G’s place this summer, the Pyramid.
