Showyou iPad app is like Flipboard for videos

Many of us are inundated with video links from our friends on Twitter and Facebook and the folks over at Vodpod think there’s a better way to keep track of these videos. The new Showyou iPad app is a way to gather all your videos in one place and better enable you for social video consumption. Think of it as a Flipboard for video.

Once you download the free Showyou iPad app (also works with iPhone and iPod touch), you can sign in with your Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as create a Vodpod persona. The benefit of the last one is that you’ll be able to “thank” other users when they send you a cool video.

The company is calling its layout a “grid” and it’s a big, visually-pleasing row of videos from your various friends and social network followers. This customizable interface is very pretty and you can scroll up and down or left and right to view up to nearly 1,000 videos. Tapping on the video in the Showyou iPad app will play it within the program and you can share it via Twitter, Facebook or e-mail from there.

It’s a visually-pleasing app but I’m curious as to how well it will do. I do believe that video is extremely compelling online but I also miss my text stories that other people send and which you can find in the aforementioned Flipboard.

The Showyou app is available today for free in the App Store and you can find it here (iTunes link). It’s also available on the iPhone and iPod touch but the video below shows off the iPad app.

Take a look at the video below and let us know what you think. Is this something that you’d be interested in or would this just be yet another app to get to your social networking content?
