We’ve seen plenty of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming Xperia X10 Mini Pro successor in previous leaks, and now we’ve got yet another batch of pictures to throw onto the pile. These ones pit the Mini Pro 2 against its grandaddy, and though there are plenty of similarities, there are a few slight stylistic differences – for one, the the three navigation keys on the front have been axed in favour of a single home button and two capacitive keys.
The spec sheet, as we’ve been able to cobble it together, makes it look a bit snazzier than the original: a 3-inch HVGA display (bumped up from 2.5-inch QVGA), 1 GHz processor, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, and running Android 2.3.
These are the sharpest pictures I’ve seen so far, and they’re making me excited to try this sucker out. I had spent a fair bit of time with the original, and in a sea of samey, massive touchscreen slates, it was refreshing to try something in an adventurous form factor that actually worked. The Xperia Mini Pro lineup has a lot going for it: small, pocketable, cheap, has a real keyboard, and runs Android. All the more reason that I’ve been bitter that the original never came up here to Canada, but at least you folks down in the U.S. are likely to see this new one live at some point.
