Provider to NFC software and systems Sequent Software closed a Series A financing in a round led by Opus Capital and SK Telecom Ventures. The company will use the money to “drive commercial NFC mobile payment deployments of large customers and partners” to allow consumers to make payments and other transactions with their mobile devices. As part of the deal, Bob Borchers from Opus Capital and Rob Trice from SK Telecom Ventures will join Sequent’s board.

Sequent’s NFC platform and on-device software is offered as a hosted solution or can be licensed and locally deployed. The company provides end-to-end services, including customer diagnostics and care, business intelligence analytics, and hardware and software deployment.

We’re not sure who Sequent’s customers are, but both VCs seem pleased with the deal with Opus’s Bob Borchers saying that Sequent has “created an amazing platform for making NFC implementations and transactions easy and compelling.” We’ll see how that goes…
