Good news for those of you with the LG Apex – now you can finally upgrade it to Android 2.2 Froyo. As you probably already know, this version of Google’s mobile OS gets you faster download speeds, updated Android Market, portable hot-spot capability (requires a tethering plan), Adobe Flash 10.1 support and fully integrated support for Microsoft Exchange. You can get additional information from this page on U.S. Cellular’s website.
As for the future updates, I wouldn’t be too optimistic. Quite the contrary, I strongly believe this is the last update Apex users will get, at least through official channels. In other words, once you’re done with Froyo, you’ll have to try harder, exploring Android hacking forums to get your way around the phone’s firmware and make it run Gingerbread… or simply buy some other phone. It’s your call. 😉
Anyway, the LG Apex is a side-sliding Android smartphone with full QWERTY keyboard. It is available both with the contract and on prepaid for $249.99.
