
InMobi unveiled its Mobile Insights Report: North American and Global Editions April 2011. The data is gathered from the company’s mobile ad network, which currently serves 35 billion monthly mobile ad impressions to over 314 million consumers globally.
Here are the highlights:
- InMobi network grew by 17% in North America (900 million monthly impressions) and 11% globally (3.4 billion monthly impressions) in just three months. This growth was largely driven by increased smartphone adoption.
- From January 2011, smartphone usage grew by 20% globally or 2.3 billion monthly impressions.
- North American smartphone impressions grew by 37% with 80% of all ad impressions on InMobi’s network now coming from smartphone users. iOS captured +9.4 share points in April 2011, while Android is still dominating with 37% of total impressions.
- Samsung (+1.2 share pts), Apple (+0.4 share pts) and HTC (+1.2 share pts) continued to capture share from Nokia (-1.0 share pts), which still remains in the number one position with 37% share of global impressions.
- Globally, 39% of all mobile ad impressions now occur on smartphones. From January 2011, global smartphone usage grew by 20% or 2.3 billion monthly impressions.

InMobi concludes that smartphones are increasingly becoming a primary channel to digital media consumption on a global basis, especially in markets including Asia, Eastern Europe and Africa, where smartphones are used as a primary gateway to digital content… You can download the latest InMobi Mobile Insights Report from here.
