Zagat’s mobile app for BlackBerry has just been updated to version 8.0 with a bunch of new features. The last update to the Android app got friendly with Foursquare and Foodspotting, and though this BlackBerry update isn’t quite the same, it is finally enabling GPS, so you can map restaurants close to your current position. Zagat for BlackBerry also now lets you reserve spots at participating  restaurants. Reservations are slotted in the native BlackBerry’s calendar app.

As always, this app is the place to go for detailed, quality reviews of restaurants by fellow foodies. You can browse listing based on proximity or cuisine, filter based on cost and rating, check out pictures of what’s being served, and even send in your own review via e-mail. Zagat’s been really good about providing broad mobile support, having hit all of the major bases like Android, iPhone, and BlackBerry, but also supporting the little guys like webOS and Windows Phone 7.

I’m not quite foodie enough to justify having this installed on my personal BlackBerry, especially since Poynt does restaurant reservations for free, but if they ever get around to Foursquare and Foodspotting integration, then I might be singing a different tune. The downside here is that the Zagat application is subscription-based, but at least it’s only $10 for a full year.  You can download Zagat from App World, and sign up for a subscription here.
