Apple App Store passes 500,000 apps

The Apple App Store has reportedly passed the 500,000 app mark, according to a new infographic put together by Chomp, 148 Apps and Chillingo.

I won’t waste too much time breaking it down, as that’s the beauty of this infographic. Still, it’s neat to note that there are now at least 85,569 unique developers, Angry Birds is still at the top and the company is predicting that more than 15 billion apps have been sold.

While I’m not too keen on the sheer tonnage of apps, there is something to say about having a large variety to choose from. Let’s say that only 5 percent of apps are actually good – 5 percent of half a million means there are a variety of better choices for consumers.
