The Participatory Culture Foundation (PCF) launched a new version of its open-source media player Miro. Version 4 allows users to manage their media library — including iTunes libraries, videos, playlists and apps — in one place and then sync it [library] with Android devices. In other words, it promises to deliver the same functionality iPhone users have with iTunes to the Android community.
I haven’t tried it myself — I’m all about the cloud — but I know people that simple gotta have (or so they think) their stuff stored locally and then (eventually) sync it with their phones.
In addition to the media player and library management features, Miro 4 also comes with video converter to ensure users have the ability to download and play almost any video or music format. Moreover, it can work with a number of music and video stores and stream various media files.
