WWDC is today and we’ll be live-blogging the event

Apple’s WWDC event is next week, and we’re expecting to see tons of big things coming out of Cupertino. What sorts of things, you ask? Well, for starters we’re seeing a big push into the cloud, or Internet-based storage and services. Apple will be calling its services iCloud – pretty original, right? We’re hearing things about online music storage and streaming, perhaps something to rival Google Music, along with melding in MobileMe.

What we might not see is a new iPhone, which would be a major bummer. Since its release in 2007, it has been announced and released every summer since then like clockwork. However, recent rumors peg the iPhone 5 or 4S or whatever you want to call it for the fall of this year, or perhaps even early next year. We’ll find out in just a few short days!

And speaking of the iPhone, we’ll also see the goods for iOS 5. Details are scant, of course, but we’re really crossing our fingers for a more elegant and user-friendly notification system. The current pop-up-and-deal-with-it-now model sometimes makes me want to hurl my iPhone at a wall. I hope Apple steals the webOS-and-Android-esque mockup we saw earlier this year.

We’ll be there live-blogging and keeping you all abreast of the news and developments, so be sure to stay tuned!
