MetroPCS has recently launched Visual Voice Mail for select Android smartphones with support for the Blackberry 8530 and BREW-based devices to follow shortly. The service comes in two flavors, Visual Voice Mail and Visual Voice Mail Plus. The former allows users to listen to messages with one click or browse them visually and see the contact’s profile picture; while the latter adds text transcriptions of voice messages to the mix. Both versions allow users to respond to voice messages via call back, SMS, MMS and/or email.
In terms of supported devices, MetroPCS’ Visual Voice Mail will sing along Samsung Galaxy Indulge, LG Optimus M, Huawei Ascend and Huawei Ascend Sanctioned by TapouT, presuming you’re on a plan starting at $45 for non-4G handsets and $50 for 4G handsets. If you want extra features Visual Voice Mail Plus offers, you’ll have to add $5 on each plan. Personally I think text transcriptions are worth every penny…
