Although Facebook was one of the first companies to launch its iPhone app, the social network still hasn’t unveiled a dedicated iPad application. That’s about to change with final touches being added to Facebook for iPad as we speak.
We don’t have anything official, only this blog post from The New York Times in which Nick Bilton talks about the latest rumors. From there we learn that the upcoming Facebook app has been “carefully designed and optimized” for the tablet and that Mark Zuckerberg himself has been “heavily invested” in the design process. People who have seen the application praised its slick design as well as specially optimized Facebook Chat and Facebook Groups features.
Facebook’s communications manager Jaime Schopflin declined to discuss any future products. We do, however, hope that iPad users won’t have to wait for too long to dump the iPhone version from their tablets and replace it with the real deal.
Finally, the article says that in addition to the native iPad app, Facebook also plans to introduce a better version of its website for the iPad and we guess other (Android) tablets…
