The handset isn’t even officially available yet, and the EVO 3D is already getting an update. The update brings the software version up to 1.13.651.7, and contains a bug fix for the calendar application.
The bug itself would force close the Calendar application when one was trying to edit an event, and while that’s definitely a good thing to catch before the handset is officially in stores, but the update itself seems to be rather large for a simple bug fix, coming in at 26.59MB. Nonetheless, we’re glad to see such a bug has been caught before the release, as it’s a doozy.
With only a few days to go until the official launch for the EVO 3D, we may even see more updates hit as soon as the device hits the shelves. This isn’t unusual as manufacturers still have deadlines to meet, and sometime send out handsets with some lingering bugs, especially on Android devices.
The boys over at AndroidCentral grabbed the shot below, showing off the details of the update and when it will begin to rollout to users. While our unit received the update already, it looks like the official date for the bug squashing update will land sometime this Friday. We actually haven’t experienced the bug itself, but then again, we also haven’t tried to replicate the calendar issue.
Well, soon to be EVO 3D users, once you get the handset, be sure to check to see if the update is available for you. Since we’re only a couple of days away from the release, we have our doubts that the update itself will already be pre-installed on handsets, as most are probably sitting in the back room of Sprint stores already.
