I’m not sure we should classify Comet’s latest offering as a hot deal. The reason is simple – they don’t offer some well known tablet for less; rather their deal includes not-that-known (to say the least) Binatone Homesurf 8.
Specs wise, this 8-inch tablet comes with a WVGA resistive touchscreen and runs Android 1.6. Yep that’s Cupcake right there for some reason beyond explanation. No word whether you can update it to Éclair or Froyo. Hopefully that’s possible, but then again – you/we should expect much more from a product that costs 69.99 GBP (about $118).
All said, I think of the Binatone Homesurf 8 as an ideal first tablet for a child. He or she may break it, but you shouldn’t mind that too much – buying it won’t break your bank, quite the contrary. Then when a child grows up, grab something better with a resistive touchscreen and latest version of Android (or some other platform).
You can check out the Binatone Homesurf 8 from this page on Comet’s website.
