Research In Motion’s BlackBerry lineup isn’t really known for its photographic ability but the powerful Bold 9900 is taking things up a notch. With a 5-megapixel camera that can do 720p HD, can this replace a point and shoot?
I found the pictures on the Bold 9900 to be good but not great. I personally still feel like the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S lineup can do more with the 5 megapixels. Still, this is a more than capable device for e-mailing pictures and for sharing photos on Facebook.
While some phones are starting to do 1080p HD, I found that the Bold 9900 720p HD videos looked pretty darn good. The picture turns out sharp and crisp and motion didn’t seem to bother it too much. The audio recording isn’t the best but it’s definitely passable.
