The Times and Sunday Times now have their own Android app, allowing users with smartphones and tablets running Google’s mobile OS to keep up with the popular magazine’s content while on the go. However, while initially you get to access all of The Times content for free, after the trial expires – you’ll have to pay for access. In a nutshell, the dedicated mobile app works like The Times’ website. What’s cool, however, is that existing subscribers to The Times’ web edition can use the same username and password to access the content on their mobile phone (or tablet).

The application itself looks pretty simplistic and I guess the idea is to emphasize the content. I don’t quite dig paying for access to the text-based content on a mobile phone, but can understand the cross-platform concept which makes mobile phone just another channel that is included in the subscription. That said, I’m eager to hear what you think about it? Are you willing to pay to access articles on your phone? Comments form is all yours…
