Pandora Internet radio now has 100 million registered users, 36 million of which are active every month. Folks listen to Pandora’s service on their computers, smartphones, TVs, set-top boxes, alarm clocks, tablets and while driving. The company currently has about 3.6% market share of “of all radio listening in the United States,” up from 2.3% it had at the end of last year. And while Pandora keeps growing and signing pre-load deals with car makers, it will soon face competition from Spotify which announced its entrance to the U.S. market a week ago.
In the other news, Pandora also has a brand new website, built entirely in HTML 5 (as opposed to Adobe Flash) making it [website] easier and faster to use. In addition, there are some feature enhancements such as improved controls, better search and social networking integration, allowing users to share song and artist details via Facebook and Twitter. The new design should already be available for Pandora One members and will become visible to everybody soon afterward.
