We don’t have this official confirmed but are still pretty confident Sprint and Samsung will release a small firmware update for the Samsung Replenish. That “small” part means it won’t get Gingerbread to the eco-friendly Android smartphone — rather once the phone is updated, some of the known bugs and issues will be resolved, making the phone run faster. The information comes from AndroidCentral, which managed to get it from the leaked Sprint playbook, confirming the firmware release date is set for July 18th.
Anyway, the forthcoming firmware will bring enhancements to the LED, a fix that sounds the roaming alert before roaming is activated, and a fix for the issue that reset to all zeros, introduced with the firmware version ED23.
As usual, we advise you to backup the key data (contacts and calendars) prior to proceeding. Moreover, it is best to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot when performing the update to make the download faster. If that’s set, you’re ready to go. 😉
