LG Thrill 4G for AT&T priced at a very affordable $99 on two-year contract

While it’s not as cheap as we previously thought, it looks like the US version of the LG Optimus 3D, the Thrill 4G, will land on AT&T shelves for only $99 on a new two-year contract. This almost doesn’t need to be said but we can imagine that a dual-core toting, glasses-free 3D display-rocking handset for $99 should sell like hotcakes.

The LG Thrill 4G would be the first handset of its caliber to land at such a price in the US, third-party retailers notwithstanding. When the handset is released, we can imagine that some of those retailers will be offering up the handset at an even lower price. Say, $50, if not free.

On AT&T’s website, you can now grab the Motorola Atrix 4G for only $99 and while we’re a bit partial to NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 dual-core processor found in the handset, we’re not so in love with the Motoblur UI. The Thrill 4G ships with the TI OMAP dual-core CPU and being one of the two glasses free 3D handsets on the market is a huge selling point for the handset. AT&T also has said that we can expect to see the Thrill 4G in stores in the coming weeks, making that rumored August 7th release date even more believable.

The only other handset that can go toe-to-toe with the Thrill 4G is the HTC EVO 3D on Sprint, which has a snappier CPU, better display, and a sexier UI running on top of it. That said, the EVO 3D is not only $100 more expensive, but it also lacks a good amount of 3D content, where the Thrill 4G offers up quite a bit. And, while this may be fixed in future updates, we couldn’t find the option to record in 1080p HD with the EVO 3D (on our review unit, at least), where the Optimus 3D could out of the box.

Either way, the Thrill 4G is an awesome phone and for the price of $99, the handset should definitely make your next handset choice a hard one.
