HP TouchPad will get $100 discount this weekend

TouchPad discounted $100 this weekend

If our review scared you off of the HP TouchPad with webOS you may want to give the tablet a second chance, as buying the device from HP directly this weekend will net you a $100 discount.

The deal, first reported by PreCentral, says buying the 16 GB TouchPad directly from HP.com from Aug. 5-7 will get you the $100 instant rebate but it looks like the 32 GB model will still have the full cost. The retail store Staples will be doling out a $100 coupon for either version of the webOS tablet but that will also only last through the weekend.

Of course, one has to wonder why the sudden discount. The HP TouchPad was killed in reviews because the software just wasn’t ready and the hardware seemed just average. With a new software update just being pushed out, the software is finally ready for prime time but it may be too late.

Even if the TouchPad flops, it wouldn’t be the first tablet to be crushed by the Apple iPad. Apple was able to ship 9.25 million iPads last quarter and I don’t even know if the rest of the tablet market has reached that figure for the year.

This is great. I went to use the staples coupon last week but all the tablets were out. I think it would be no problem with this device, don’t get me wrong, I think it is a awesome device.

This is awesome post. And I really like this hp touchpad. I’ll have to take a second for my wife at this price on my wedding anniversary.

I had the TouchPad from the first day of release and I’m very happy with it, no problems with Synergy for me. There is definitely room for improvement in the setting of more errors and more consistent performance.

Thank you for providing any useful information. I’m glad you have a review here. In fact, I’m looking for a Tablet PC, but I never had before. Therefore, there are many things I do not know or no knowledge.
