When the iPhone 3GS was released, an 8GB version of the 3G became available for dirt cheap. When the iPhone 4 was released, an 8GB version of the 3GS was also released for a much lower price. So, let’s see here, there is a chance that the iPhone 5 is coming soon–does this mean we’ll see an 8GB version of the iPhone 4? It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, but the fact that it’s a rumor with source is a little laughable.
The brilliant folks who surface everywhere with knowledge of the matter says that Apple is indeed working on a lower-capacity iPhone 4 model that will sell for significantly less than the brand new models. You know who else says that of the matter? Those who have historical knowledge of Apple’s products and product launches, but we’ll take what we can get.
These geniuses are also saying that the iPhone 4 in an 8GB version could help boost sales in emerging markets, perhaps much like previous, cheaper 8GB models of the iPhone might have.
Reuters says:
In addition to the launch of the smaller iPhone 4, Apple is targeting an end-September launch for the next-generation iPhone 5, one source said, confirming earlier reports on Apple follower blogsites and industry websites.
The new iPhone, which some call the iPhone 4S because of its largely identical appearance to the existing iPhone 4, will have a bigger touch screen, better antenna and an 8-megapixel camera, one of the people said.
The sooner Apple launches its next iteration of its popular smartphone, the better. For one, people have been hanging onto the current model for quite some time now and we’re getting a little antsy. Secondly, these rumors are probably driving you crazy just as much as it does me, so for our own sake and those of bored analysts everywhere, let’s just see this thing already!
