Hmm… this is… kinda… strange. Only a week after we said webOS is pretty much dead, HP hinted its TouchPad may get a software update. And it’s not the software release that would make the tablet run Android (CyanogenMod is used for that), but an actual webOS-based update.
We’ve no idea what will be included in any such software, nor whether it will actually be released. If that happens, the update will “enhance the platform and add functionality” to the TouchPad. HP’s spokesperson said those words in a reply to email from CNet.
In the meantime, if you own the TouchPad, you’ll be glad to know that Quickoffice HD for webOS has been updated and now supports document editing, while also adding new features to the mix such as changing font type, color and size; underlining, as well as adding functions to spreadsheet cells…
Not sure what to take from this. The way I see it, someone else should acquire webOS assets and continue its development, but that’s another story which I’ll probably explore in some future article. Stay tuned…
