If you a) own an Android smartphone or tablet; and b) was looking at the AR.Drone with a dose of envy – we have good news for you. Yep, now you can control the popular quadricopter from your Android device just as well iOS users could (and those with Symbian smartphones, though unofficially), relying on the magic of Wi-Fi connection.
Alongside the free AR.FreeFlight application, Parrot (the company behind AR.Drone) also released an SDK to spur the development of new apps that for some reason need quadricopter to work. That AR.Pursuit game for the iPhone promised to deliver next-gen gaming, but honestly I’ve no idea what else can be made. Maybe it’s my lack of imagination or something, but I’m having a hard time envisioning that many different apps. If you’re a developer and you manage to make something fun or useful that works with the AR.Drone, make sure to send us a mail – we’re very interested to talk about such projects. 😉
