After the world’s first Android clamshell smartphone, Japanese are getting the first candybar with numeric keypad that’s also powered by Google’s mobile OS. Dubbed Smart Bar, this little fella’ will hit the Land of the rising Sun on September 22nd where interested folks will be able to grab it for ¥29,800 (about $385) in black, white or brown.
Specs wise, it comes with an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 SoC, 3-inch WVGA touchscreen, 512MB of RAM, 5-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.1, IrDA, while Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show. In case you wonder, Huawei made this baby and we’re wondering whether they’ll export it to the Western hemisphere. I kinda like the Smart Bar and can even imagine such a device being adopted by feature phone users, helping the Chinese handset maker expand its smartphone market share by few extra points.
