HTC has been sending various members of the press an invite for an event that’s due to take place on the 20th of September in New York City. The invitation reads “Come celebrate in style with HTC“, which makes us think that they’re going to show off the long awaited “Bliss” smartphone. When we first heard about the Bliss back in May of this year, we were kind of taken aback as to why HTC wanted to create a device specifically tailored towards women. It’s not that we don’t love our lovely lady readers out there, but we fail to see why creating a smartphone in a particular shade of blue and with a few bundled accessories that scream progesterone would be good for the market. HTC should be trying to make devices that appeal to both sexes. You don’t see Apple coming out with a pink iPhone, but then again they do make pink versions of their iPod nano and iPod shuffle so … yea, maybe it’s best we don’t fret about this too much.
What we’re all really hoping for however is more information on the HTC Ruby and HTC Vigor, the latter is supposed to be a 1.5 GHz dual core beast with a 720p resolution screen and Verizon 4G LTE connectivity, the former a beefed up Sensation with a faster processor, more RAM, and a 42 Mbps HSPA+ radio that will take full advantage of T-Mobile’s 4G network. Less than two weeks ago, at IFA in Berlin, HTC showed off the Titan and Radar, two Windows Phone Mango devices that we frankly have no idea when or even if they’ll end up in the United States.
The holiday shopping season is quickly approaching and you can expect a sea of devices to be released between now and when Santa comes down your chimney. We suggest you wait to hear about the next Nexus from Google, the next iPhone from Apple, and the first Windows Phones from Nokia before opening your wallet.
