Well, it looks like Rhapsody has just gotten better with its latest update, which adds a social layer, allowing users to follow trendsetters in particular categories and share their own favorite songs and artists. This latest update comes fresh off its partnership with MetroPCS. New feature updates include:
- “My Radio” – A auto-generated playlist of 150 recently played songs that is used to provide music recommendations and facilitate connections to other like music-minded Rhapsody users
- Social integration – Connect with Facebook, Twitter and Gmail friends to see what they’re listening to and share what’s been on your speakers
- “The Mix” – Rhapsody Editor-made playlists, blog entries and round-ups designed to surface new tunes and old favorites.
- Speed – The streamlined design makes it easier to find and play music, create playlists and search
This app is cool for users who’ve always wanted to share the songs and playlists they’re listening to with their Facebook friends, which brings a whole another layer of social interaction with those close to you. It’ll be interesting to see how this coincides with Facebook’s plan to launch its own music service called Facebook Music.
The new features will likely get a lot of use, considering Rhapsody occasionally gets early access to releases. Hopefully over time that same early access could be given to Rhapsody’s tastemakers in various categories. You can download Rhapsody in the iTunes App Store below, or in the Android Market here. Just remember that you need to pay up $10/month for the privilege.
