Zedge, which is apparently the world’s largest independent consumer distribution channel for mobile gaming and personalization media (i.e. wallpapers and screensavers), launched its own app store in partnership with Appia (former PocketGear). As a result, around 40 million users that visit Zedge.net every month will now be able to access a catalog of thousands of popular free applications and games across major operating systems, including BlackBerry, Symbian and Java. The storefront experience is customized for each user’s phone, delivering a tailored list of applications for virtually any mobile device.
Aside from Zedge, Appia has deals with other companies, including Mexico’s largest operator – Telcel, as well as Opera Software, which makes the world’s most popular mobile browser – Opera Mini.
