Word is that the iPhone 5, which may launch alongside a souped-up version of the iPhone 4, an iPhone 4S, is going to find its way into the four major carriers in the U.S. However, T-Mobile CMO Cole Brodman, speaking at a town hall meeting for the carrier, might have inadvertently outed the possibility of the iPhone 5 coming to T-Mobile. Unfortunately, it’s just not going to happen this year.
If Sprint ends up getting the iPhone 5, where does that leave T-Mobile? Just because the fourth-largest carrier in the U.S. isn’t getting the iPhone 5 doesn’t rule out the possibility that it will get the iPhone 4S (or whatever you want to call it). Or maybe there were issues in producing an iPhone 5 that would be compatible with T-Mobile’s fake 4G network – HSPA+.
Either way, one would have to imagine, and hope, that the next iteration of the Apple smartphone would eventually make it to the folks in magenta. Otherwise, with the slim possibility that AT&T acquires the carrier, those who desperately want the iPhone might start considering switching carriers. Just a thought.
