We all know that AT&T and T-Mobile will be soon gearing up for its anti-trust trial with the government, and to no one’s surprise, Google wants to protect confidential information about its business plans related to Android smartphone operating system. So in laymen terms, the search giant wants no parts of this merger.
So to help protect itself and avoid the AT&T and T-Mo trial, Google has filed a petition with the judge presiding over the case between the Justice Department and AT&T over the company’s proposed purchase of T-Mobile asking to keep confidential data about Android from being disclosed to the public. In its petition the search giant said:
“Without such additional protection, Google and other non- parties could find their confidential information – such as Google’s business plans related to Android – in the hands of competitors (or their competitors’ consultants), or even in newspapers, without having had prior notice of its disclosure.”
Nonetheless, Google will probably end up getting some special condition, which is sure to help in disqualifying themselves from the preceding — hey, I don’t blame them. As far as the merger is concerned, AT&T is trying to climb a major hurdle with getting the Department of Justice’s decision overturned — a process which will lead us to February 2012.
