Well what do you know, ZTE Android smartphones have finally found their way to a major U.S. mobile operator. The first Android-based device that will be introduced (or so we think) in the U.S. of A is marked as N860, having recently cleared the FCC hurdle. The same device also got the certification from the Bluetooth SIG and is, as far as we can tell, ready for the prime time. It’s about the timing now and selecting the right name for this baby. N860 doesn’t seem appealing and I’m sure Sprint’s marketing folks are brainstorming as we speak. Heck, they may’ve already finished the process and are preparing the promo materials…
Unfortunately we don’t have any inside information on the specs of this phone, but as far as we know ZTE, their baby will most likely sit somewhere in the low-to-mid end range, costing next to nothing with a two-year contract. Alternatively, the Now Network may decide it’s better suited for one of its prepaid businesses like Boost Mobile or Virgin Mobile.
We’ll make sure to follow up on this story and let you know as soon as we hear anything new related to “ZTE smartphones invading America.” Stay tuned, will ya’? 😉
