We have great news for you Foursquare for Android users out there. The location-based social networking app recently received a pretty cool update with the Lists feature to help share and discover collections of places, among a few other smaller tweaks. This news follows the company’s recent announcement of achieving a huge milestone, passing a cool one billion check-ins. The full new feature list includes:
- Lists for Android
- Points for check-ins are now in the post check-in screen.
- Connect your Twitter account via the Settings screen.
- Sort friends by Nearby or Worldwide on Friends screen. Hit the menu or list footer.
Honestly, adding the ability to connect a Twitter account within the app, and the access to sort out your friends by Nearby or Worldwide parameters were highly needed features. I was impressed with the new additions once I tried them last night, and I noticed the work Foursquare put behind collecting and communicating better “real-world experiences” for users.
The location based company has made lots of improvements that should keep them on top for some time — it’ll be interesting to see if Gowalla’s new direction can give them a new angle to compete with. The updated foursquare for Android app is free and available in the Android Market now. The iOS app was updated with Lists a little earlier, which you can pick up at the link below.
