The Daily doesn’t sell that well, as we reported earlier. According to some reports, News Corp.’s iPad-only magazine is averaging about 120,000 readers a week, which is less than a quarter the number the company said it needs to make money. What’s more, we don’t know how many people actually pay for the news, considering some of the articles are offered for free.

The Daily refuses to share all the figures, though we do know that their app has been downloaded more than 1 million times as of the end of June.

So the question is – whether a paid daily newspaper for tablets can succeed? Adding Android support is in the pipeline and such a move could certainly help bring more people but whether they’ll pay for the access is completely different matter. The way I see it, if iPad users don’t pay – neither will folks with Android devices. What do you say?
