HTC Flyer now $99 from Best Buy [Update: nope]

HTC Flyer on sale for $99 at Best Buy

If you’re looking to get a cheap, high-quality tablet and there are no more discount HP TouchPads laying around, you may want to head to your local Best Buy because the retailer is selling the HTC Flyer for a mere $99.

The sale is happening online and it appears like it has sold out but I’d keep checking the website and call some local stores because this is a great way to get into the tablet space at a low price. This isn’t some knock-off cheapo tablet either, as the HTC Flyer is quite a powerful 7-inch Android tablet.

I really did like the HTC Flyer when I reviewed it, as the 7-inch form factor made it more portable than an iPad and it had a strong and sleek industrial design. It also had some horsepower under the hood, as it was powered by a 1.5 Ghz Snapdragon processor and had Bluetooth, WiFi and all the other goodies you’d need. Heck, it was even compatible with a capacitive stylus that was sold separately.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t really recommend the Android 2.3 Gingerbread tablet because of its previous price, as users may as well get an iPad 2 or Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the $500 mark. At the ridiculously low $99 price point, I would encourage you to buy this thing as soon as possible, even if you don’t really need a tablet.

Update: Well, I guess if it seems too good to be true, it must be, as we’re hearing this is a sku-error and that Best Buy isn’t honoring the $99 price tag. Instead, it will cost $299, which is still a decent deal but not the stop-what-you’re-doing-and-get-it-now price. Thanks to @davidj and @Kennjason for the update.
