You may’ve heard EU wants to standardize micro USB chargers for phones to reduce all the waste caused by different companies offering different cables. No company will be excluded from this rule, not even Apple which has its own connector dock. However, there’s a workaround way to get in line with the rule – handset makers can offer the adapter instead of altering their devices. As you can imagine, that’s exactly what the Cupertino-based company did and it will soon start offering such a product for 8 GBP (about $12). That’s kinda cheap for an Apple accessory, no matter how minor it is.
The new Apple iPhone Micro USB Adapter already got its page at Apple’s British website (and I guess in other EU countries) from where we learn it will start shipping on October 14th. We are not sure whether the iPhone 4S will be sold with this adapter inside the box, though. It kinda makes sense, but you never know…
